Why did you decide to put up this web site?
This site is here because over the last six years, as a full time professional artist coming from a commercial background, I'm shocked at the archaic perception of Artists by the general public. I'm also fired up at the way Gatekeepers like Galleries, 'Art Centres' etc. 'work' or don't work with Artists. I also want us all to be able to explore and share what works and what doesn't. Keeping up to date with Events and stuff would be good, mixed in with some fun and entertainment and a generous helping of rebelliousness, of course. I'm Irish after all!

I also think it's crucial as artists, we communicate rather than work in isolation. I've built in various types of Artists Listings. By offering a free Standard Listing it gives you an opportunity to join the community, to get your name and contact information out there as this web site attracts more and more visitors interested in Art.

There is also an option to have an annual fee based Professional Listing which offers extra facilities, such as more detailed listing, your own online Contact Form and a Portfolio Gallery of images for the serious artist. You can read more about getting a standard or professional listing here....
Can any Artist list their information?
A Standard Listing is available for any Artist free of charge . I would like this web site to contain information about artists who are dynamically involved with their work. Or to put it another way - Artists who turn up at the 'coal face' on a regular basis.

Artists who actually live and work as artists. Being there doing that - you know what I mean.
Are you a company?
No definitely not. I'm a professional artist who also happens to have a background in web development and graphic design. I've been talking about doing this for the last few years, as I feel deeply there's a need for a site like this. I went searching for such a web site, finding none combining all of the content I would love to browse, I decided to take action. So up it goes this month, August 2009.

If you send in information on Events or request an Artist Standard or a Professional Listing (example), please keep in mind there is only one dedicated artist behind this project, and allow up to a week for me to get your information up.

How do I get my information onto your website?
Why do you seem to be focusing only on West Cork, Maui and Tuscany?
Because at this time, September 2009, I want to focus on the geographic areas I'm most familiar with. As a full time professional Artist myself, I'm part of the greater community. So I want to be able to relate professionally to the Artists, Art Groups, Galleries, Events etc in these three regions. Regions I visit, live and work in.

This is my way of making sure the information here is up to date and dynamic. In other words it reflects what's happening in each of these wonderful regions.
Wouldn't a Forum be a good idea to exhange ideas?
Yes it would and I might put one up in the future. But for now it's important to first get up a lot of information about Artists, Artists Groups, Events etc and build the foundation for other possibilities, such as a forum, in the future.
Do you have a question not answered here?
Then use my Contact form to pose your question(s) and I'll get your question and answer up here if it may be helpful to other artists and visitors.
